Music Review
Since I'm just sitting at home with Sasha, it's a perfect time for me to catch up on music recommendations. Using your new reviewing skills, post a one paragraph review of a cd you think I should check out. Be sure to explain your reasoning for the selection, and make sure to proofread! The album Lupe Fiasco’s the Cool is a very well put together rap/hip hop album. There are many different featured rappers/singers appearing throughout the album, ranging from Nikki Jean, to Graham Burris. Bishop G, and Matthew Santos also appear in many of the tracks, and are great additions. And not only does Lupe Fiasco’s the Cool feature a wide variety of musicians, but the songs still follow Fiasco’s same basic message. The songs are mostly about the many things that are wrong with society and how Lupe Fiasco made it into the rap game, but they still have great raps and beats in them. The album does not really have a positive or negative ring to it, but none of the songs are cruel, or really derogatory.
ReplyDeleteThe tracks on this album have many different beats and sounds in them, including revolutionary war snare drum effects, gun shots, and background sounds of the city. The mixes were put together by Chris Allen, Craig Bauer, and Lupe Fiasco. These three mixers did great work on all of the tracks, especially on the track Little Weapon. Little Weapon features Bishop G and Nikki Jean, and is a song about children in the military, and children getting their hands on guns at a very young age. This song delivers a strong message, but still keeps a good hip hop beat and gangster style raps. Another headlining song is Superstar, featuring Matthew Santos. This song is about the journey of a rapper to become a superstar out of nothing. It, again, has a positive message, but still maintains heavy duty raps. Overall, this album will be great for the classic Lupe Fiasco fans, as well as newcomers.

Matt & Kim, is a music group consisting of two very talented artist from Brooklyn, New York by the names of Matt Johnson and Kim Schifino. Matt performs lead vocals and plays the keyboard, while Kim accompanies him with backup vocals and drums. “Sidewalks” is the Indie Pop duos third album which does not disappoint fans in any way. Each and every song on the album has an infectious beat that cannot help but make the listener attentive. The lyrics of the songs are successful in painting a picture in the listener’s mind, which is the point of all of their songs. This album really grasps the artistic side of music unlike most of today’s popular artist. Matt & Kim create unique melodies and upbeat rhythms that will inspire listeners and put them in an relentless good mood. The record begins with an exceptional first track by the name of “Block After Block”. The song gives off an alternative pop vibe, but the chorus turns into a classic hip-hop hook. Still Matt & Kim manage to stick with their own signature style that they’ve sprinkled in the middle. As the record advances, more experimental rhythms and beats come into play, which are especially noticeable in songs such as “AM/FM Sound” and “Good for Great”. Over a short period of time, this group has developed greatly and expanded their genre to incredible new heights. They can only improve as musicians, and artist, and are sure to create a fresh and unique piece of music soon to come.

Jamie Hawkins - (E Block)
Nevershoutnever is an acoustic pop group founded by Christofer Drew Ingle. After being found on Myspace, MTV invited him to him to be on the hit show, TRL. This created his popularity to grow rapidly. Nevershoutnever has many different types of sounds. He finds a way to incorporate many different types of music without being completely haphazard. His sound is very refreshingly organic, but at times can still have an edgy and raw effect to the sound. His music is very inspiring and real. Every song on the album What Is Love is hand written based on past experiences. It is very inspiring. This album has so many different types of music. It can appeal to almost everyone. Both he and his music are very real. The music is quite catchy. It’s hard to only listen to one song. This is one of the few albums where you can get all types of music without feeling completely unsystematic. The whole album will open your eyes to see music in a new light.

ReplyDeleteHillary Duff’s album, The Lizzie McGuire Movie is filled with lots of teeny-bop, positive songs. The genre is definitely pop with a little bit of retro throwback to the eighties and a few duet ballads. The music definitely brings you back to the time when love songs were innocent and pure as well as upbeat and fun. This music will make you jump up and start dancing around the room like a little kid. Songs like the Tide is High and Supermodel definitely make you want to smile and sing along. Also, the wide spectrums of singers include: Hilary Duff, Haylie Duff, Dean Martin, Cliff Eidelman, Atomic Kitten, and Cooler Kids. The essence of the album definitely exhibits true pop culture with a bit of piano, drums, guitar, and auto tune. The songs are a little bit of fluff with topics being about love and feeling like a pop star. Overall, this album is a true representation of what young girls want to listen to. The most important thing about this album is to listen, believe, and let go. I am telling you about this CD because it was a CD that I listened to when I was a little girl and The Lizzie McGuire Movie was my favorite movie when I was 6 years old and I suggest that you show Sasha the movie when she gets older as well.

Sublimes third and final album titled Sublime was viewed as the best released album by the band and a good bye to dead band member. The album is filled with talent and excellent music. The musical styles throughout the album vary nearly as much as a girl changes clothes, ranging from the mellow hip hop groove of the song, "Doin Time" and the reggae beat of, "Caress Me Down" to the alternative rock of, " What i got" and the punk sound of, "Paddle Out." The genre crossing musical diversity expressed on the album is one of the more convincing reasons for the record's wide ordinary appeal The album is all Sublime, no extra bands' helped on the songs. With the acceptant of a few songs most songs are original but a few are beats or lyrics taken from a song in the past. One of the most spectacular parts of the album in my opinion is the cover. The album cover is combined of a psychedelic green surrounding and then shows the back of what looks like a grown man with a tattoo on his back that says Sublime. The album cover in some way shows what to expect on when listening to it, the green surrounding shows the trippy calm reggae part of the album as to when the man with the tattoo shows the high tempo punk alternative rock. The message of the cover sets the tone of the album to expect some sort of immature lyrics or maybe a combination of fast loud tempos and slow soft beats. Overall the album soars over the expectation level of Sublimes fans, crowing is as without a doubt Sublimes most successful album ever.

One of my all time favorite albums is In Between Dreams by Jack Johnson. His album has a really cool feel about it and it is very soothing. In addition to the soft acoustic guitar in the background of most of his tracks he also has a great voice that is calming and raspy at the same time. This album makes me feel really relaxed and calm and it is good for just hanging around the house or doing busy work. It helps keep me distracted from the work I have to do ahead and helps take away my stress too. Also the lyrics really have meaning, unlike most fluffy pop songs that lack a deep meaning. Some of my favorite tracks on the CD are banana pancakes, better together, breakdown, and good people.

The best album is clearly Licensed to Ill by the Beastie Boys. Licensed to Ill was the Beastie Boys debut album. It was released in 1986. The Beastie boys were a rap group consisting of Michael “Mike D” Diamond, Adam “MCA” Yauch and Adam “Adrock” Horovitz. The Beastie Boys appeal to a wide array of audiences and their album with the most variety is their best, Licensed to Ill. Whether you’re on the dance floor, in the car or just relaxing there is a song for you in Licensed to Ill. To make the album even better, it has a very cool looking cover. On the cover you will see a Boeing 727 emblazoned with the Beastie Boys name and Def Jam records logo. The success of the album not only showed that the American public would not only buy into hip-hop but anarchy as well. The success of Licensed to ill helped pave the way for bands like Nirvana. Licensed to ill is a very historically important album in that way. There are many great songs on the album but the best is brass monkey. Brass monkey is a rhythmic, high-paced, up-beat song. A relaxing song is Slow Ride, a very slow but up-beat song. Overall Licensed to Ill is a very up-beat album with many great songs.

An album I listen to all the time and I think you should check out is Little Voice by Sara Bareilles. Sara became known when her hit single Love Song came out which is featured on this album. She has a very unique voice and her singing is different from other kind of music out there. Her voice does not sound changed, but sounds refreshingly real. Each song on the album has a different feel and expresses a variety of emotions. Some songs are ballads while others are catchy and have a fast beat, but each will definitely make you want to sing along. I love this music because every song seems to have a voice or is saying something. The lyrics are meaningful and sound as if she put a lot of time into them. Since Sara writes these songs herself each one has a little piece of her in it which makes the listener feel as if they are getting to know her in their own way. My favorite songs on this album include City, Fairytale, and Many the Miles, but each is definitely worth listening to. Have fun with Sasha, and you should definitely visit with her soon.

Facing Future, by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, is a very relaxing CD with great melodies. In this CD, Israel’s ukulele melody plays a big role that makes the songs as good as they are. This instrument is what gives this album a soft and calm tune. Israel or better known as Bruddah Iz is one of the major influences in Hawaiian music. One of his most famous songs, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, included in this album is a mixed genre of jazz and reggae. The 750 pound Artist/ Entertainer, die at the age of 38, of a weight related heart attack in 1997. Even today, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s legacy lives through his music and he will also be remembered as the obese, easy going Hawaiian artist.
ReplyDeleteThe song “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love (feat. Pitbull)” by Usher, has very interesting lyrics. In this song, Usher tells a story about him on the dance floor seeing this girl who he knows he’s seen before. As they dance he keeps on repeating everything he remembers about her. In addition, throughout the song he says that they are falling in love again.

On Selena Gomez’s new album A Year Without Rain she stays true to the pop genre but adds her own twist by telling a story in the lyrics. The songs on her album have a very positive and moving vibe. These genius pop songs are great songs to listen to when you want to jam out to some cool music or pump up before a hard game or event.

Selena Gomez has written several of other albums but this album demonstrates that even though she is a young artist she can have more sophisticated songs. Even though some of the songs are slower she still maintains a positive message. Selena Gomez captures many age groups and will be writing and producing albums for many years to come.

Brand new album called Peace, Love, and Overweight Babies by S.O.L.E. Fresh was released September 28, 2010. S.O.L.E Fresh is two nineteen year old college students Nick De Pass (Leonardo Jonze) and Brandon Guichard (Knoxx St. Peter) who started to sing during high school. They were born and raised in New Orleans and met at St. Martins School. S.O.L.E. Fresh recorded their songs in Leonardo’s pool house, and got a CD to Mannie Fresh. Then they were signed by Mannie Fresh earlier this year, who is the producer of Cash Money Records. There music is very good for many reasons. Most of the songs have a nice smooth soft beat throughout them, and others have upbeat fast beats. Also it is good because it is sung by Mannie Fresh in a few verses. This is the perfect CD if you like good music. But unfortantly my favorite song is not on You Tube yet so here is “I Don’t Wanna Grow Up.”

The song that I recommend that you should listen to is History in the Making by Darius Rucker. Darius Rucker is an African American artist who is very successful. Darius did not start being successful and well known by himself. First he started off as the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish. This song can be taken in two different ways. One way is the literal way which is how he meets a girl and his first experience with her. The metaphoric way would be your taking something on yourself and it is your first time. The song also explains how to approach a situation and what to expect. I enjoy this song because I like the chorus and the beat. I also enjoy this song because of the meanings behind it. Overall Darius Rucker is a great artist who sings songs that really touch me.

My review today will be on the base bumpin’ and heart poundin’ Lil Wayne album “The Carter III.” The beats that Lil Wayne rapped to were produced by various groups such as Swizz Beats and Deezle. The rhythmic rhymes tell a tough story of drug addictions and young love. Lil Wayne crafted this Grammy Winning 3× Platinum Album to fit the persona of all music lovers from the dance floor partiers to the stereo blasting low ridin’ gangsters.

This album is great for those who enjoy story based lyrics and grand beats. The most vastly enjoyed songs were Lollipop, a worldwide hit, A Milli, Mrs. Officer, Got Money, and Mr. Carter. I recommend listening to All Time Low. Their best album is it’s So wrong, It’s so right. The band All Time low is a very successful band. All Time Low has a variety of music but is based off of pop or punk music. Most of the bands songs are lively and could keep people on their feet at concerts. The fans of this band range from teens to people in their thirties if they like pop music. Their band is focused on making pop music that young adults will enjoy. There is a lot of acoustics in the background. Their music is energetic and gets people moving. My Favorite songs on the album six feet under the stars and Dear Maria, count me in. Their lyrics are straight to the point and good. The thing that catches people’s attention mostly is their beat.

This album Room for Squares by John Mayer has many people who make up the band. John Mayer, Nir Z, Brandon Bush, John Alagia, David LaBuryere, Clay Cook, and Doug Derryberry are all the people that make up the band. This album by John Mayer contains a mixture of different instruments along with vocals. A majority of his songs contain bass, backup vocals, and Hammond organ, while John Mayer is always singing and either playing the guitar or piano. In some songs the organ is overpowering. Some songs that stand out the most are My Stupid Mouth and Long Song for No One because no instrument is overpowering the others, but in Neon there are certain instruments that are overpowering and make it hard to hear the other instruments. Overall most of the songs contain no instrument that is overpowering.

Owl City is an American techno pop band by Adam Young. Owl City’s third album, Ocean Eyes, came out on July 28, 2009. The CD consists of a few of their hits including Umbrella Beach, Vanilla Twilight, and Fireflies. A few guest appearances on the album include Austin Tofte, and Mathew Theissen. The songs all have a techno background, with upbeat rhythms throughout. The track is an electronic genre, which consists of acoustic guitar, and piano accompaniments. Adam Young says he is inspired by disco and European electronic music. These inspirations can be clearly heard in the song Cave In with its techno sound and 80’s influence. This album is great for just about anything, it’s uplifting, and has a great beat. I would suggest this genre of music to anyone who likes to listen to alternative music, with a pleasant message throughout each song.

ReplyDeleteI would seriously recommend the album titled Illmatic by Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones recognized by his stage name Nas. Illmatic was released in 1994 and was his first album. The album is widely considered to be the best debut album ever to be released, and even the best hip-hop album ever. Nas highlights poverty, and gang related instances while still maintaining a positive feel throughout the album. He has a unique ability to paint vivid pictures, and is said to be one of the best lyricists ever. For instance on track 7, “One love” he is writing a letter to a friend sent to jail. It explains to his friend how to stay positive and the shift in the community because of his absence. It’s songs like this that only Nas can write. Listening to this album is great changes from the mainstream music of today that just constantly repeats the same thing.

Viva la Vida by Coldplay is one of my favorite songs. It has great melodies and harmonies, with effects such as bells chiming at all the perfect spots, making it easy to listen to. The lyrics tell the story of a king who was bad to his people and was overthrown. It tells the story through the voice of the king, and shows that he is remorseful and knows that he has committed many sins. The song is the sixth song in history to be downloaded and paid for four million times.

I would recommend listening to Legend-The Best Of Bob Marley and The Wailers. This album came out long ago in 1984, three years after his death. This album is said to be the best reggae album of all time. The album brings out the greatest hits of Bob Marley and the Wailers. Each song in this album is reggae styled music that is very sooting and calming. Many great songs such as I shot the Sheriff, Could You be Loved, and One Love are big hits in this album. This album has helped spread Jamaican Music and the Rastafarian movement through the world. The songs in this album cover Marley's feelings which vary from world wide issues to his personal life. Bob Marly and The Wailers album is excellent and will always be a world wide hit.

ReplyDeleteI would strongly recommend that you listen to KiD CuDi's album "Man on the Moon". KiD CuDi is a young rapper from a poor neighborhood in Cleveland. Te songs on this album are not like other rap songs in that they almost sound like alternative. Also, the songs in this album are very upbeat and they are fun to listen to. Also, unlike a lot of other artists in the rap industry, KiD CuDi does not just talk about how much money he has and how he is better than everyone else. In his songs he talks about the hardships he faced growing up in Cleveland and how the death of his father really took a toll on his life. One particular song that I really enjoy on this album is "Soundtrack 2 My Life". In this song, CuDi talks about his father and the challenges he faced growing up. This song is very good and sends a positive message. I strongly encourage you to check it out.

I think you should absolutely check out the cd Jackson Five: The Ultimate Collection. This soulful music will make you feel calm and content. The Jackson Five sing from the heart in popular songs such as ABC and I’ll Be There. With every song you listen to, you will be more and more saddened about how Michael Jackson died. This is an astonishing, and groovy album destroys all cd’s like it. It is amazing what great singers the Jackson kids were at such a young age. This album is very spirited and the Jackson's sing with amazing clarity. This is definitely a cd worth listening to and I know you will enjoy this album.

Sugarland is a fabulous country group originated by Jennifer Nettles. Sugarland has many different albums but my personal favorite is the Incredible Machine. This album is filled with upbeat, energetic songs such as, Stuck Like Glue, All We Are, and Stand up. Her albums are all relaxing and soothing. All of their lyrics have a meaning, they tell a story. My favorite track on this album is Stuck Like Glue.

The Grammy winning band the Red Hot Chili Peppers gives a funk rock/alternative rock feel. There is a good chance that you don’t like rap and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are a great rock band without a hip-hop style. Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Josh Klinghoffer, and Chad Smith are the people who give us the excellent music. My personal favorite album is the Greatest Hits because it incorporates their best music all in one album, which means you can’t get a bad song. My favorite song on the album is “Scar Tissue” because the overall music itself is good when incorporated with the great lyrics. It puts me in a perfect mood, which I think makes an amazing song. Besides “Scar Tissue,” “By the Way” has great rhythm throughout the entire song, and I like the guitar. “The Other Side” is another good song by them. The album Recovery by Eminem has hit the charts on a high standard in its first days of being released. It has already made it to number four on the listings. All of the songs contain hot beats and smooth lyrics that catch the attention of his listeners. The contents of the music show a variety of different beats and tempos ranged from chopped and screwed to fast and vibrant. The main contents of his music are primarily synthesized instruments mainly including piano and percussion. Eminem’s main influences for his songs are problems in his life including family and relationship issues. Eminem has a way of showing gratitude for life in his lyrics. It is conclusive that numerous listeners are inspired by some of the meanings portrayed in his songs. There were numerous appearances in various songs including Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Pink, and Kobe. These artists add a variety of different styles to Eminem’s music. Recovery has many well written and composed songs; its popularity is well deserved and incredibly necessary.

I would recommend the album Raymond v. Raymond by Usher. Raymond v. Raymond consists of Usher’s most popular 2010 songs such as There Goes My Baby, OMG, and Papers. The album also features artists like Plies, who has featured in Daddy’s Home, Nicki Minaj, who features in Lil’ Freak, and Will I Am, who is in OMG. All of the songs on the Raymond v. Raymond album are similar to his past songs, which were in the genre Hip-Hop/R&B. OMG, the album’s most popular song, is an electronic dance song, whereas Papers is a slow R&B song about Usher’s recent divorce from Tameka Foster. I would recommend Raymond v. Raymond because it contains all of these different genres and varieties of songs. Usher’s newest album is a great way to follow his past hit CD’s, Confessions and Here I Stand.

Jack Johnson, a soft rock and acoustic singer and guitarist, has a very good album called In Between Dreams. I chose this CD because It is something I can listen to everyday and not get tired of. The album’s most famous songs are “Better Together,” “Banana Pancakes,” and “Good People.” Many songs on the album are upbeat and fun to listen to. There are also many songs with a slower tempo. The album features mostly love songs, but also a few that aren’t. Jack Johnson makes good music and this is one of his best, if not his best album.

I recommend the C.D Manners by Passion Pit. It is an uplifting jam which encourages enthusiasm. This keyboard & synth usage in this album is used in a spectacular, unusual way. Since the C.D has come out the band has sent out a whole new vibe for themselves and their type of music, synth-pop. The band incorporates every instrument used in a unique, original way. This album is based off enthusiasm. This C.D is fulfilled with vibrant beats that will light up absent minds. The insane vocals backed up by the synth, keyboards, bass, and guitar go beyond the limits. The band is a perfect combination. Michael Angelakos, the lead vocals brings out the energy. Ian Hultquist, the keyboards and guitar & Nate Donmoyer the drummer bring in the enthusiastic beats. Ayad Al Adhamy, the synth player and Jeff Apruzzese the synth and bass player add the absolute absurd, unique, and beautiful sounds. I think the main reason I chose this CD is because it can always get me in a better mood and can always put a smile on my face. This CD doesn’t sound like everything out there, and I actually find it interesting.

The Black Keys last album, Attack and Release, was a great combination of blues and rock which blends together very nicely. Attack and release is produced entirely by renowned indie rock producer Danger Mouse. The song Strange Times has a combination of a great beat and a beautiful chorus. The other song to listen for on this album are I’ve Got Mine which combines old blues style singing with modern guitar and drum parts. This song is also a nice change of pace to their typically faster tempo songs. This nicely opens up the album and introduces what the Black Keys are about to people who have yet to hear them.

Hey, Soul Sister by Train has been and is a favorite of many. This song was released and recorded in 2009. This is a mid- tempo pop song that uses a ukulele, drums, and vocals. It is very relate able to people because of its calm melody while still being a pop song. This song has been within the top 15 songs within 24 different countries. Like most songs by Train, this one is based off of a love story. Its about the main singer and his journey of love. I would recommend this song to anyone that wants a cool and collected pop song.

The Beatles album 1 has all of the Beatles hits. It has songs with a happy upbeat such as “8 days a week”, “Love Me Do, and Yellow Submarine”. Also the CD features the sad yet beautiful songs like “Eleanor Rigby”, “Yesterday”, and “Let It Be”. The album also features some of the Beatles biggest hits like “Hey Jude”, “All You Need Is Love”, and “I Want To Hold Your Hand”. ReplyDeleteI chose this album because It is one of my favorites. The Black Keys are one of my favorite bands and I enjoy listening to most of their albums. Also, I enjoy the beats and rhythms of Patrick Kerney and the complex guitar and singing of Dan Auerbach. The Black Keys' music is also very relaxing yet up tempo which is great to listen to.

The group MacArthur Hewitt and Friends is an excellent musical combination. It is lead by musician MacArthur Hewitt also known as Daniel Black. Other than being a singer and pianist MacArthur is a substitute teacher at Isidore Newman School. His soothing voice combined with the various instruments in the background lead to a great album called Listen. In this album the group creates new versions of songs already made. MacArthur adds a different voice and great pianist skills to the music.

The Joshua Tree by U2 is a sensational album. The album itself has won two Grammys and is recognized by some as one of the greatest rock albums ever made. Produced in the late 1980’s, this album sparked a major turning point in the career of the band, shifting their status from a good band to musical legends. The music itself is phenomenal, combining good beats with a relatively new sound that is still seen in music today, such as some of Cold Play’s work. The band itself is made up of the classical rock arrangement: vocals, lead guitar, bass guitar, and percussion. These parts are played by Bono, The Edge, Larry Mullen Jr., and Adam Clayton. In addition the basic rock array, the band often implements the use of a keyboard, which adds a unique sound to the music that greatly benefits the overall tone of the songs. By merging fantastic vocals with superb instrumentation and musical ability, The Joshua Tree is a prime example of how to make a great rock album, and therefore should not be overlooked. I chose to review this album because of the easy listening and spectacular music, which combine to make one of the best albums ever produced.

I would strongly recommend listening to KiD CuDi’s album “Man on the Moon”. Kid CuDi is a rapper that grew up in Cleveland. The songs in this album are upbeat and they keep you interested. Some of the songs to listen to in this album are “Pursuit of Happiness” “Soundtrack to my Life”, “Cudi Zone”, and “Up Up and Away”. I like these songs because he talks about his life and the hard times he went through as a child unlike other rappers who talk about money and how rich they are. I recommend listening to all these songs and I think you will enjoy them. The songs are all interesting and fun to listen to.

The album Wincing the Night Away by the Shins is one of their most popular albums and also one of their more recent releases. The Shins put all of their creative and clever lyrics to work in this album. The Shins always have interesting lyrics in their songs which bring the music to life. The singing is truly flawless and can include higher pitches as well as lower ones. The band also brought in many extra instruments to the music, such as rattles and bells. This is one of the greatest albums released by the Shins and joins the ranks of their more famous work such as the album Chutes Too Narrow.

My favorite album would be Man on the Moon the End of the Day by Kid Cudi. I went to a concert of Kid Cudi last year and that’s when I first started to love his music. His appearance at Tulane auditoriums stage was one of the best performances I have ever seen. Kid Cudi is a rap artist and one of my favorite rap artists. My favorite song in the album would be Pursuit of Happiness. Mrs. Keene you might not like this album or song but you should just search it up on YouTube and see if you like it. You never know, maybe you will like it a lot. The songs are very relaxing songs and have great beats. Mrs. Keene I miss you and would like you to check out this album and song.

For my album I’m doing Abbey Road by the Beatles. Some of the songs are “Come Together,” “Her Majesty,” and “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)”. This album was rated 14 out of the world’s best 500 albums. My opinion of the best song is “Come Together”. It is about the world coming together in peace, the chorus line is “come together right now”. The genre of this album is rock, since the Beatles were a British rock band.

I recommend the album Underground Communication by Bassnectar a.k.a Lorin Ashton. This album released in 2007 is album filled with great beats, along with good, but few lyrics. Lorin Ashton is the only member of Bassnectar, and is an artist, DJ, and also the producer. Although there are no standout songs, I believe almost all of them are able to listen to. Before I listened to this album I did not particularly like electronic music, but after listening to this and other Bassnectar songs, I did. So, if you do not enjoy this type of music, you should still give it a try.

Keyshia Cole, famous hip-hop and R&B singer, released her famous album Just Like You. This is Cole’s third album and one of the best she has ever released. The title is called Just Like You, because she is trying to tell her fans that she goes through many things in life and experiences the same struggles that they do. Overall, she is trying to say that the album is about yourself and how you need to get yourself together in life. The songs on this album are extraordinary. The songs have a mixture of hip-hop and smooth R&B. All of the songs stand out on the album, but the song, “Heaven Sent”, stands out the most. This song shows a lot of encouragement to her fans, because it talks about the experiences and struggles in life and it caught attention to many of them.

The album that I chose was “Tha Carter III” by rapper Lil’ Wayne. This album is one of my favorites and it went triple platinum and a lot of the songs on it won Lil’ Wayne the Grammy’s. This CD also won him Best Rap album and was released on June 18th, 2008. I love this album because it truly shows Weezy’s talents and the songs just sound really good to me. His songs cover many subjects in life. One of his tunes “Lollipop” was an international hit and this album sold more than 3.8 million in the U.S alone. Over five of his tracks on this single album were on the Billboards top One Hundred and were highly respected in the Hip Hop community. His song “A Milli” was one of the best songs of 2008. Another one of his tunes “Mrs. Officer” in under a month was in the Top 20 and four of his songs were nominated for a Grammy. This album was a legend in my view and to many others and will be remembered in history.

The album “Rubber Soul” was made by the Beatles; Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and John Lennon. This album was made in 1965, when the Beatles were becoming very popular all around the world. They had recently come to America for the first time and at the time of “Rubber Soul’s” creation, they were truly starting to take off in their extensive music careers. This album contains 14 songs, all of which follow the same theme, but each track is different from the next, and they provide a great variety of music. While there are no instrumental-only songs on the CD, many instruments are played to compliment the vocals. These instruments include guitar, bass, drums, and occasionally piano. This is one of the main reasons that I enjoy this CD; it provides a great variety of music, but they are still all related at the same time and this is what makes “Rubber Soul” such an interesting and intriguing album.

Michael Bublé, born in British Columbia, Canada, is a singer who is quite well-known by his powerful and passion-filled voice. He has won plenty of awards, most notably two Grammy Awards and several Juno Awards. Bublé had always aspired to become a singer, starting from age two, but had also dreamed of becoming a professional hockey player for the Vancouver Canucks. Now here he is at the age of 35 with four albums, his most recent one released in 2009 called Crazy Love, living a successful life as a singer/songwriter. Michael Bublé triumphantly continues his streak of beautiful, melodic songs with this 15 track album titled It’s Time which features soothing music and catchy lyrics. His music style seems to center around jazz and soft rock. Bublé’s album songs mostly revolve around heartbreak and love. He manages to find a perfect combination of both lyrics and instrumental, keeping the listener interested.

Alex Day, a YouTube celebrity, has released his third album entitled, “The World Is Mine (I Don’t Know Anything).” The album encompasses Day’s usual sound and perspective. There are no guest performances, which came as a surprise due to Day’s frequent guest appearances in others’ tracks in the DFTBA Records community. His tracks are sometimes lighthearted and sometimes emotionally thick, but either way they are very “electronic goes acoustic.” The album was released in June of 2010. It is very recent and is, as a result, very modern. Day presents his listeners with a remarkable example of his considerable talent with the keyboard and guitar, and his songs are all his own work.

The group, Chiddy Bang, is a very talented music group that consists of two talented musicians, “Chiddy” and Xaphoon Jones” from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “Chiddy” is the lead of the group and does the majority of the vocals. “Xaphoon” though, makes the background music and the beats of the songs. The group’s album “The Preview” shows their audience there versatility and flexibility in each and every song on this album. Each song has lyrics that are meaningful and in a way has a message that, if understood properly, could be applied to life experiences. This album is very interesting in my opinion and does not incorporate any derogatory language.

Each beat and vocal in every songs are rhythmic and soothing which puts you on “Cloud 9” making you enjoy the music and forget about life worries. One of these “Cloud 9 “songs is “bad day” which is basically saying forget about your troubles and worry about the good things in life. Overall, this album is a very down to earth ablbum for many people.

The new album The Preview, by upcoming rap group Chiddy Bang is my new favorite album. The album combines a mix of hip hop, electronic, and afro beat in only 7 songs. It is their debut album that consists of songs from old mix tapes and also new amazing tracks such as “Old Ways”, “Bad Day”, and “Nothing On We”. My definite favorite song is “Bad Day” which features Darwin Deez and Theodore Grams. The verses are rapped by group member Chiddy and the beat is made by group member Xaphoon. The chorus is sung by Darwin Deez. This song is a representation and reflection of Chiddy Bang’s style. It consists of that traditional rap style verse with a sort of hip hoppy - electronic style beat. The overall mixture of the two sounds make for an amazing song and accumulate to an amazing album.

What CD Would I Choose
If I could do a review on a CD I would do it on Michael Jackson: Number Ones. I like this CD because Michael Jackson is the greatest musician and performer of all time and all of his best songs are on this CD. It starts with some oldies like “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” and “Rock with You” which are songs he made in his late teens. I like how he had his #2 best song on the CD which is “Billie Jean.” Another thing is Michael Jackson added a song that only became known by his movie Michael Jackson Moonwalker which was “Smooth Criminal.” It was cool because the producer of Michael’s CD thought that “Smooth Criminal” would never be a hit but when it came out it was in the Top Ten Best Music list. Those are cool facts about the CD.
They have a lot of good things about the CD but there are things that I don’t like about the CD. What I don’t like about the CD is they didn’t add the songs that were number one on the charts. There are 5 songs that I think belong on the CD that aren’t on it. I still think that the CD was amazing and I think that Michael Jackson is amazing but I think that they made mistakes in making the CD. That is my review of the CD Michael Jackson: Number Ones.
Ben Folds Five Album is a great fusion of rock, blues, and jazz. Its tracks contain many different instruments that flow splendidly together. The tracks contain lyrics that are clever and comical. The songs in the Album Ben Folds Five contain much piano that compliment the lyrics and the harmonizing instruments. The lead of the band is Ben Fold he is the one that sings the clever lyrics and plays the piano in a very fun way. This album is a very good album that makes all of these different styles of music flow very well together. The tracks in the album Ben Folds Five make fun of life in general but also get good points across to their listeners. The songs have fun melodies that harmonize with the lyrics giving it a gentle touch. Two of these tracks are “Uncle Walter” and “Jackson Cannery”. These two tracks are very different however they two great examples of what this album has in store. “Uncle Walter” is a song about an old uncle who has seen everything but has soured with age and is grouchy and is always talking. This album is nothing short of a great mixture of harmonies creating a great work of art. Ben Folds Five is an album worth listening to and should be interpreted in any way the listener would like to be.

I would recommend the album Stadium Arcadium by The Red hot Chili Peppers. They are a band formed in 1983 in Los Angeles. The current line-up of the band are Anthony Kiedis (vocals), Michael Balzary (bass), Chad Smith (drums), and Josh Klinghoffer (guitar). Their music style differs from punk rock, psychedelic rock and funk. The band had five stand out albums which were, Mother's Milk, Blood Sex Sugar Magik, Californication, and Stadium Arcadium. I am going to talk about Stadium Arcadium, their last album sold so far. The album Stadium Arcadium was released May 5, 2006 on the Warner Bros. Records. It was their ninth album sold. The album was a nominee for the Grammy Awards. It also got the award for best rock album. The album got the band the most nominations in their 25 - year career. I highly recommend this album to people because it differs from any other style of music.

ReplyDeleteNasir bin Olu Dara Jones, aka Nas, was born on September 14, 1974. He was raised in the Queensbridge housing projects in New York. He went to school until eighth grade, when he dropped out. In 1994 Nas released his first album Illmatic, which boosted him offthe beginning of his career. In 2001 Nas entered a heated battle with Jay-Z over who would be crowned the best MC in New York. This war lasted until 2005.
During Nas’s war with Jay-Z the two artists made album’s insulting each other for various things. During this time Nas released an album titled Stillmatic. The genre of music is hip-hop or rap. Stillmatic was filled with songs dissing Jay-Z. The whole album has a very aggressive but joyful kind of vibe, because it was based on making fun of Jay-Z. One song in the album titled Ether was completely devoted to besmirching Jay-Z’s reputation. However, some people criticize its lack of facts. I would defiantly suggest this album to anyone who is fan of rap and not fan of Jay-Z.

ReplyDeleteI would strongly recommend the album "Bang Bang" by Dispatch. "Bang Bang" is highly recognized as one of the greatest independently-released albums of all time. My personal favorite song from the album is "The General", a soft and melodic anti-war ballad. Most of Dispatch's songs are soft and melodic, but the band experiments with many different genres of music, including rock, indie rock, alternative, roots, and folk. The album has only ten songs on it, but I can honestly say that I love everyone of them. I really hope you get to listen to this album.

The Beatles album, 1 consists of every song that reached number one by The Beatles. It is a great album because every song is a well known classic. There are also many genres of music in this album, as it mixes music from all of the different phases that The Beatles went through. The thing I didn’t like about this album is although it did have every number one song, it doesn’t really capture the bands best work. A good thing about the album is it has 27 songs on one CD. 1 is a great album and I strongly suggest it to any music fan.

I strongly recommend listening to the song Opposite of Adults by Chiddy Bang. The song Opposite of Adults is in Chiddy Bang’s Swelly Express album. Opposite of Adults is considered the best song by the new rapping group Chiddy Bang, its has rhythmical additions and amazing revolutionized beats by Zafune. The CD that I have chosen to do is "All the Right Reasons" by Nickleback. I recommend this CD to you because it has a lively and very upright beat. The CD includes signal hits such as "Savin Me", "Rockstar", "Photograph" and "Far Away". This album has a mixture of slow songs and hardcore rock songs. For example "Far Away", "If Everyone Cared" and "Photograph" are all slow songs. On the other hand the song "Next Contestant" is about him getting in fights. The CD appeals to me because it has a mixture of sons and has many hit singles as well as being a good overall CD. This is why I recommend for you to listen to this CD.
